Dr. Thompson is a native of Holmdel, New Jersey and attended Yale University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. She then received a Master of Philosophy Degree from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. She moved back to the United States and obtained her M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. From there she completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Gastroenterology fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center.

Dr. Thompson joined GCC in 2011 and her special interests include celiac disease, Barrett's esophagus and general gastrointestinal diseases.
