Gastroenterology Center of Connecticut accepts payment from most major insurance companies:
- Harvard Pilgrim
- Medicare Advantage Plans
- United Healthcare
Please note, however, that individual health plans vary in their coverage. Please contact your insurance company to verify that we participate in your health plan and to clarify what your financial responsibility is when you come to see us (co-pay, deductible, or coinsurance).
Paying For Your Office Visit
If you have a health plan that we participate in, we submit your claims to the insurance company for you. Our receptionist makes a copy of your insurance card at check-in, and if you have a copay, it is due at that time. We accept checks and all major credit cards.
If your insurer requires a referral to a specialist: Please make sure that the referral is in place before your visit or your visit will be rescheduled.
If you have a health plan that we do not participate with, you are expected to pay for your visit at check in and will be invoiced for any additional charges.
Paying For Your Procedure
When you have a GI procedure done, four different entities come together to ensure that it is safe, comfortable, and effective:
- the gastroenterologist who performs the procedure
- the anesthesiologist
- the facility (the hospital or surgical center where the procedure is done)
- the pathology lab (if a biopsy is obtained for analysis)
You can expect to receive separate bills from each of these entities for the role they play in your care. Contact your insurance company directly if you are unsure about how your health plan handles each of these bills.
A special note for patients of our Endoscopy Center: When you schedule your procedure with us, we check to see if your insurance plan has a patient responsibility. If so, you will receive a call with an estimate of your financial responsibility. We expect you prepay this estimate prior to your procedure.
If you have any questions about our policies, our billing staff is happy to assist you. Any questions regarding the gastroenterologist or pathologist, call PACT at 203.488.7228, extension 1. Questions regarding the Endoscopy Center, call ECC at 203.287.2918.
