A native of Syracuse, New York, Dr. Ginsburg attended Cornell University where he majored in government. During medical school at Jefferson Medical College, Dr. Ginsburg was elected to two honor societies and was presented with awards in gastroenterology and pulmonary medicine. He also received the Benjamin and Mary Siddons Measey academic scholarship.
After graduating with honors, Dr. Ginsburg completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals. This was followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, which is consistently ranked among the best in digestive disorders.
Dr. Ginsburg has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease. He received enhanced training in this area as an IBD fellow at Johns Hopkins, and saw complicated patients in a specialty clinic with one of the foremost IBD scholars in the country. Dr. Ginsburg has developed collaborations and fostered relationships with nationally renowned specialists in the field. As an expert in Crohn's and colitis, Dr. Ginsburg cares for a large patient population with IBD and sees patients from all over Connecticut and New England. He is also available for 2nd opinion consultations.
As Medical Director of Research, Dr. Ginsburg is currently a principle investigator overseeing several inflammatory bowel disease research trials. Many of these studies of novel therapies are not available anywhere else in the region. This affords our patients the opportunity to benefit from cutting edge treatments for IBD and other gastrointestinal disorders. Dr. Ginsburg has designed and performed research studies examining advanced imaging techniques for assessing inflammation in the small intestine. He also has presented his research at national conferences and published several articles related to Crohn's and colitis.
Dr. Ginsburg is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Medicine at Yale University. He is involved in resident and medical student education, and teaches Yale postgraduate fellows as they train to become gastroenterologists. In addition, Dr. Ginsburg serves on the review board for the Annals of Pharmacotherapy and has approved articles submitted to Up-To-Date in Gastroenterology. He serves as a consultant and lecturer for several pharmaceutical organizations involved in producing new drugs for IBD, and educates gastroenterologists about the latest treatments for Crohn's and colitis.
In addition to his clinical interest in inflammatory bowel disease, Dr. Ginsburg also sees patients with other gastroenterological disorders.
Dr. Ginsburg is Board-Certified in Gastroenterology and serves as a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America.
Dr Ginsburg is affiliated with Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Hospital of St Raphael. Dr. Ginsburg cares for patients in the Hamden and Guilford offices.
