Karin Koval was born and raised in Southfield, Michigan. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Detroit Mercy, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She continued her education at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in the Physician Assistant program and earned a Master of Science degree in Health Sciences.

During her undergraduate studies, Karin was an active member in a National Honor Society, volunteered with the Big Brother Big Sister organization and worked as an emergency department Patient Representative for a Level 2 trauma center prior to entering PA school.

At the Gastroenterology Center of Connecticut, Karin's goal is to listen to, and care for, patients in both the office and hospital settings. While she is interested in all aspects of gastroenterology, Karin has a special interest in the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases: Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis. She is affiliated with the Hospital of St. Raphael, Yale-New Haven Hospital and Milford Hospital.

Karin is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Connecticut Academy of Physician Assistants. She holds her certification with the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants. Karin also maintains her Basic Care Life Support and Advanced Care Life Support certifications.
