Dr. Alaparthi was born in south India into a family of teachers, engineers, and farmers. Dr. Alaparthi won various school awards for athletic competitions, singing, and article writing on selected topics. Dr. Alaparthi entered J. J. M. Medical School as selected by the government on a merit basis.
After moving to Norwalk, Connecticut to join her husband, she successfully completed 3 years of residency in Internal Medicine at Norwalk Hospital / Yale University Program from 1995 to 1998. She then completed her gastroenterology and hepatology training at the Yale New Haven University/Hospital of St. Raphael. Her
training included general gastroenterology, liver diseases and biliary endoscopy. She is currently a private consulting gastroenterologist at the Gastroenterology Center of Connecticut, Chief of GI at Milford Hospital and Clinical Instructor at Yale University, School of Medicine.
Dr. Alaparthi's awards in the United States include the following;

Dr. Alaparthi is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American College of Gastroenterology.
