Dr. Generoso was born and raised in the Philippines. He obtained his medical degree from the University of the Philippines, the country's premier learning institution. He then completed a rotating internship at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila. Before coming to the United States to continue his medical training, Dr. Generoso was actively involved with the Red Cross, at the time of the devastating Mt. Pinatubo volcanic eruption which leveled much of the Philippine's northern countryside.
After immigrating to the U.S. with his family in 1994, Dr. Generoso completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at New York University. He then underwent further training in Gastroenterology and Liver Disease at Yale University. Dr. Generoso is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Generoso obtained further training in medical research and clinical epidemiology, participating in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at Yale University. He has published research in peer-reviewed medical journals. In 1999, he was honored by having the American Gastroenterological Association select his research, from more than 5000 entered worldwide. This was one of ten outstanding papers presented at the Plenary Session at DDW (Digestive Disease Week), the largest gathering of digestive disease specialists in the world.
In addition to specializing in general Gastroenterology and Hepatology, he has special interest and experience in pancreatic and biliary disease, ERCP, and advanced endoscopic procedures.
Dr. Generoso is a member of the Connecticut Association of Philippine Physicians, and of the University of the Philippines Medical Alumni Society in America. He actively participates in medical missions to the Philippines. He is also actively involved in teaching, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Yale University School of Medicine.
